The India Development Foundation of Overseas Indians (IDF-OI) is a not for profit Trust established to serve as an avenue for overseas Indians to engage in philanthropy to supplement India's social and development efforts. The Trust is chaired by Smt. Sushma Swaraj, Hon'ble Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs. The Trust is exempt from the provisions of the Foreign Contributions Regulation Act (FCRA), 2010.
IDF-OI is promoting Government of India's flagship programmes - Swachh Bharat Mission and National Mission for Clean Ganga. It is also seeking contributions from overseas Indians for projects in different States that are being implemented by State Government agencies. IDF-OI is focussing its efforts on enhancing engagement with the Indian Diaspora and increasing its outreach. IDF-OI will provide regular reports to the contributors about implementation of projects to which they have made contributions. Details of the projects are available at IDF-OI’s website www.idfoi.org.
As a result of these efforts, overseas Indians are sending their contributions to IDF-OI. In recent months, some Projects under the Swachh Bharat Mission have been funded with their donations. Two Community Toilets have been constructed in Vijayawada and Amritsar. Two more are being constructed in Sikkimand Amritsar. Several contributions have also been received for National Mission for Clean Ganga. The Government is keen to continue this momentum and enable more overseas Indians to contribute through IDF-OI to projects offered by the organisation.
To spread awareness among Overseas Indians about IDF-OI and its activities, a google drive link to IDF-OI promotional material has been created, which is as follows:
