In case of loss of passports, concerned Indian nationals will have either of the following options:

1. They can apply for one-way Emergency Certificate for returning to India, or,

2. A Short Validity Passport (SVP), hand-written and valid for six months for the purpose of immediate travel to any other country. Please note that for visas in respect of other countries individual arrangements have to be made with respective Embassies/Consulates.

REQUIREMENTS :

EMERGENCY CERTIFICATE

1.     A Police Report about the loss of Indian Passport. The Report should reflect the complete details of  lost passport plus passport copy.

2.     Application (available at the Embassy) to be filled in at the counter in person.

3.     An Affidavit is also to be signed in the presence of Consular Officer.

4.     Four (4) passport size photographs.

5.     To facilitate expeditious processing, if possible, photocopy of the lost passport (First and last pages and also any other relevant endorsement).

6.     A fee of CHF.36/- ( EC: CHF 11/- + Affidavit: CHF.25/-) is to be paid to Embassy’s Account No. 235-939899.01P with UBS AG, Bern

SHORT VALIDITY PASSPORT

REQUIREMENTS

1.     A Police Report about the loss of Indian Passport. The Report should reflect the lost passport details plus passport copy.

2.    Filled in application which should be filled on-line by visiting the website:www.passport.gov.in/nri/

3.     An Affidavit is also to be signed in the presence of Consular Officer.

4.     Four (4) photographs size 2" x 2".

5.     To facilitate expeditious processing, if possible, photocopy of the lost passport ( First and last pages and also any relevant endorsement.

6.     A fee of CHF.248/- ( Passport: CHF 223/- + Affidavit: CHF.25/-) is to be paid to Embassy’s Account No. 235-939899.01P with UBS AG, Bern.

      Consular surcharge CHF 2.- is to be paid Embassy A/c maintained with UBS AG, Bubenbergplatz 3, 3000 Bern A/c No. 235-939899.02K.

Please read all the instructions and requirements before filling up the application.                                                                                          

Kindly also note the following points:

a) Please write all the details as mentioned in your present passport. Any change requires documentary evidence.  Affidavit to be signed in front of the Consular Officer, Embassy of India, Berne.  Present address in Switzerland can be changed. 

b) While filling online application against address to be printed in the passport, only address in India should be filled up.

c) Please clip all the documents - do not staple it

d) Paste one photo – and attach three additional photographs

e) Specimen Signature – Signature should be in the centre of the space provided, without touching the borders, after taking printout of the filled in application form.Applicant unable to sign should give thumb (left for female and right for male) impression.

f) Pay the passport fee in UBS Bank AG , Bubenbergplatz 3, Postfach, CH-3000, Bern Account No. 235-939899-01P( IBAN No: CH 82 00235) of  Embassy of India Berne and enclose the original receipt along with application.
